Managing Change
Course Code: EI62022
Advance your leadership skills by looking at change management. Learn the value of transitions, personal change management, emotional regulation, and explore differing strategies for habit formation. Become confident managing change!
This course has five chapters focused on transitions and change management.
Chapter 1: Change and You
We introduce and explore change in this first long chapter. We unpack the role of discomfort in evolution, how priming and language use can affect our experience of anxiety, and how to accept change in our life. Finally, we end with ‘change management’ as a formal approach to change adaptation.
Chapter 2: The Path of Resistance
Change is not always easy. Often it can feel challenging, as if some resistance is there. In this chapter, you will learn your change personality and figure out why you might respond in different ways to different situations.
Chapter 3: Purposeful Pasts
Why look back? While our past might be filled with regret and hurts, it can also provide pockets of incredible knowledge. Even if you had a happy childhood or many positive previous encounters, there is still a lot to learn when we reflect on our pasts. This can help us better manage change.
Chapter 4: Let Go or Hold On?
There are two choices in life at all times. Do you continue (hold on) or stop/ change (let go). In this chapter, you learn how letting go has value in life, and can help you flow through changes. Think about the nature of holding on, and of letting go... What does this mean for our interpersonal relationships? How can you grow by accepting change and adversity?
This Chapter also has lots of activities to help you understand yourself, including a chance to complete a ‘moral inventory,’ where you go deep into who you are, what matters to you, who matters, and what steps you can take to embrace change.
Chapter 5: Welcome the New
Okay, so now you are ready to accept and welcome change. Great! Yet, it's not as easy as just saying "let's do it!" In this chapter you learn to build positive habits. You will develop practices, keep patterns, and learn how to alter your habits to enhance a healthier lifestyle or work choice. We also show you that perseverance is one of the keys to managing change in yourself.
This is a long course, which offers comprehensive learning in managing change for yourself, and your workplace.
If you are seeking to develop your organizational or leadership skills, this is the place to start.
